ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University Softball Team is set to open the GNAC portion of their schedule when the Western Oregon Wolves visit this weekend.
Friday's games will occur during Campus Parking Enforcement hours of operation. Due to that, patrons will need a guest parking pass if you don't already have a CWU pass in order to park in the paved parking lots closest to the Gary & Bobbi Frederick Field (Lots V-18 and V-22). The dirt parking lots by the softball fields are free to park (Lots X-22 and X-23) as well as free parking along East 18th Avenue.

LAST OUTINGS:
The Wildcats last played on Friday and Saturday March 6 and 7 when they hosted Northwest Nazarene for a four-game nonconference series in Ellensburg.
The Nighthawks started out strong with a convincing 8-0 5 inning victory in the first game.
Brooke Baker had the only hit for CWU while
Lizzy Turpen drew one walk.
Reese Anderson pitched the final 2.1 innings allowing two hits, no runs, and two walks while striking out four of 12 batters.
NNU then earned a day one sweep with an 11-4 victory in game two.
Izzy Vargas led the 'Cats with two hits and an RBI while Baker added two RBI off one hit and
Jadyn Holdren had the other RBI for the 'Cats. Holdren drew two walks while
Kayla Brusseau,
Joelie Eder, and
Adriana Rodriguez all drew one.
Zoey Theophilus pitched the first three innings allowing five hits, three runs, one walk, and two strikeouts against 13 batters.
Once again NNU opened the day on day two with a persuasive 10-2 five inning victory. Brusseau,
Kasi Thomas, and
Mia Flores all had one hit each with Brusseau and Thomas having an RBI each. Baker drew two walks while Holdren drew one.
Alex Flohr pitched the final inning for the 'Cats allowing one hit, two runs with neither being earned, and one walk against seven faced batters.
CWU avoided the weekend sweep with a huge 5-1 victory in the final game on Saturday. Vargas homered as one of her two hits in the game and accounting for her RBI. Holdren and
McKayla Cable led CWU with three hits while Brusseau added two and Thomas and
Melise Brown adding one. Cable had two RBI while Flores and Thomas added an RBI. Baker drew two walks while Flores drew one. Theophilus pitched all seven innings allowing six hits, one run, two walks, and earned eight strikeouts against 29 batters.
SCOUTING THE WOLVES:
Western Oregon is 14-11 on the season. They opened their season at the Concordia Irvine Kickoff where they went 1-4 posting a 4-2 victory over Menlo but falling to Biola, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Vanguard, and San Francisco State. They bounced back for a 3-2 weekend at the D2 West Coast Challenge falling to Stanislaus State and Concordia Irvine in tight games but earned a 13-7 victory over Cal Poly Humboldt, an 8-6 victory over Western New Mexico and an 8-0 victory over Regis. In their home-opener they took down Bushnell in a double-header by scores of 7-5 and 4-3. They then went 1-4 at the GNAC/CCAA Crossover, posting an 8-0 victory over Cal State San Bernardino but fell to Chico State, top-ranked Cal State San Marcos, Cal State Monterey Bay, and Stanislaus State. They bounced back in a huge way earning a nonconference home sweep over Simon Fraser by scores of 5-4, 5-2, 4-3, and 6-4 then traveled to Western Washington last weekend where they went 3-1, defeating the Vikings 6-4, 8-3, and 7-6 and falling in game three by a 10-2 score.
Madelynne Hommel leads the Wolves' offense this season with a .439 batting average, making it home 20 times, and 36 hits while adding six doubles, a triple, 10 RBI, and 10 drawn walks while also tying for the most stolen bases with Hope Bodak with three each. Sydney Conklin has added a .365 batting average, 19 hits, five doubles, 14 RBI, and four drawn walks. Lauren Mauer has a .359 batting average, 23 hits, four doubles, a team-high three triples, two homers, and a team-high 22 RBI while drawing five walks. Lexi Baumgartner has a .299 batting average, 20 hits, three doubles, one triple, a team-high three home runs, 20 RBI, and seven walks. Reghann Fairbairn has drawn the most walks on the team with 12 this season.
Kennedy Abbas has a 2.50 ERA this season to go with a 3-1 record, one shutout, and one save in 14 appearances with seven starts. She's allowed 69 hits, 30 runs with only 20 earned, and 16 walks while striking out 35 of 232 batters in 56 pitched innings. Penny-Lew Barnett has a 2.98 ERA with a 4-5 record in 12 appearances with six starts. She's pitched 42.1 innings this season allowing 51 hits, 29 runs with 18 earned, 20 walks, and has struck out 26 of 172 batters. Abby Stansbury has a 3.34 ERA with a 3-1 record, in 10 appearances with six starts, one complete game, and one shutout. She's pitched 29.1 innings allowing 41 hits, 26 runs with 14 earned, 20 walks, and has earned 12 strikeouts against 128 batters.
