ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington Softball Team returns to Ellensburg to welcome a familiar foe for a nonconference series.
Friday's games will occur during Campus Parking Enforcement hours of operation. Due to that, patrons will need a guest parking pass if you don't already have a CWU pass in order to park in the paved parking lots closest to the Gary & Bobbi Frederick Field (Lots V-18 and V-22). The dirt parking lots by the softball fields are free to park (Lots X-22 and X-23) as well as free parking along East 18th Avenue.

The Wildcats traveled to Tracy, California to participate in the NorCal Crossover. The 'Cats first fell 8-2 to Menlo seeing six different players earn a hit while
Joelie Eder had only two RBI for CWU.
Brooke Baker pitched 3.1 innings allowing four hits, one run that wasn't earned, five walks, and a strikeout against 18 batters.
The 'Cats bounced back on the opening day with a 10-8 victory over Cal Poly Humboldt. The 'Cats saw
McKayla Cable,
Melise Brown,
Lizzy Turpen, and Baker led the 'Cats with two hits while Baker, Turpen, and
Mia Flores had two RBI each.
Ellie Gilbert earned the save for the 'Cats, pitching the final inning of the game not allowing any hits, runs, or walks while striking out one of three batters.
CWU opened day two with a 6-4 setback to Stanislaus State. Turpen led the 'Cats with three hits and three RBI. Baker pitched the final two innings allowing two hits, one run, and two walks against 11 batters.
The Wildcats then fell to Cal State Dominguez Hills by a 16-6 score in five innings.
Jadyn Holdren and
Kasi Thomas led the 'Cats with two hits while Holdren, Baker, Thomas, Turpen, and
Kayla Brusseau all logged one RBI.
Zoey Theophilus pitched 3.1 innings allowing four hits, seven runs with only five earned, and five walks while striking out one of 21 batters.
The crimson and black concluded the weekend with a 6-4 setback to the second-ranked Cal State East Bay. Seven different Wildcats logged a hit while Thomas led the way with two RBI with Holdren adding one.
Reese Anderson pitched the final two innings allowing one hit, no runs, no walks, and earned two strikeouts against eight batters.
SCOUTING THE NIGHTHAWKS:
Northwest Nazarene is 12-7 on the season. The 'Cats and Nighthawks had a single game two weekends ago as a part of the Nighthawks Invitational where NNU won 6-4. Last weekend NNU also participated in the NorCal Crossover in Tracy, Calif. where they split 2-2. They took an opening day sweep, defeating Stanislaus State 4-3, then taking down Biola 6-2. They then were swept in their final day of action, falling 9-3 to Cal Poly Humboldt before suffering a 6-0 setback to Cal State Dominguez Hills.
Three Nighthawks are batting over .300 this season led by Keana Bell with a .357 batting average while Emma Bumatay and Ava Clark aren't far behind at .352 and .345 on the season. Bell leads NNU with 20 hits while Bumatay accounts for five doubles, however, both Bell and Bumatay are tied with four homers. Bell has 21 RBI while Clark has drawn 13 walks. Clark is 11-11 on stolen bases this season while Jami Obringer is 10-10 on stolen base attempts.
Riley McGee is leading the pitching corps with a 1.84 ERA while adding a 3-2 record, one complete game, and one shutout in seven appearances with six starts. She's pitched 26.2 innings allowing 23 hits, 16 runs with seven earned, and 10 walks while striking out 13 of 108 batters. Miah Lusk and Hailey Harris aren't far behind with a 2.40 and a 2.80 ERA, respectfully. Lusk has a 6-3 record, four complete games, one shutout, and one save in 12 appearances with nine starts. She's allowed 32 hits, 20 runs with 17 earned, 29 walks, and 55 strikeouts against 171 batters in 49.2 pitched innings. Harris has a 1-2 record and 25 pitched innings in eight appearances with two starts. She's allowed 22 hits, 16 runs with 10 earned, eight walks, and 22 strikeouts against 92 batters.

The Wildcats will head to another familiar place in Burnaby, British Columbia as the 'Cats head north of the border for another nonconference series, this time against the Simon Fraser Red Leafs. The 'Cats and Leafs clash on Friday March 13 at 2:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 14 at noon with game two each day to follow approximately a half an hour after the conclusion of the first game.
