Ntekpere Claims Heptathlon Crown at GNAC Combined Event Championships

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Emy Ntekpere of the Central Washington University Track & Field team claimed gold in the women's heptathlon with a total of 4,768 points. The men's team secured a first-place finish overall, while the women's team placed second, highlighting outstanding performances and a strong team effort across the board.

ABOUT THE MEET
  • Emy Ntekpere showcased a stellar all-around performance in the heptathlon, capturing individual event wins in the high jump with a clearance of 1.73 meters and the long jump with a mark of 5.77 meters. She also dominated on the track, taking first place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.03 seconds and clocking an impressive 25.99 seconds to win the 200 meters.
  • Carley Huber earned the bronze medal in the heptathlon with a strong overall score of 4,610 points. She highlighted her performance by winning the 800 meters with an impressive time of 2:18.40. Huber also secured second-place finishes in both the 100-meter hurdles (15.14 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (26.27 seconds), demonstrating her consistency and versatility across multiple events.
  • Joy Ayodeji and Meggie Kilcup rounded out the top 10 in the heptathlon with strong efforts across all events. Ayodeji accumulated 3,670 points, while Kilcup followed closely with 3,571 points, contributing valuable team points and showcasing the depth of Central Washington's lineup.
  • On the men's side, Josh Boast captured the silver medal in the decathlon with a total of 5,945 points, delivering standout performances across multiple events. He claimed victories in the 100-meter dash (11.17 seconds), the 400-meter dash (50.65 seconds), and the 110-meter hurdles (15.19 seconds), showcasing his speed and versatility throughout the competition. His strong showing was a key contributor to the men's team's overall success.
  • Matthew Bender delivered strong performances in the field events, securing first place in the long jump with a mark of 6.40 meters and in the high jump with a clearance of 1.84 meters. His consistent efforts across all ten events earned him a total of 4,865 points and an eighth-place overall finish in the decathlon, contributing valuable points to the team's overall success.
  • Chris Hines claimed first place in the shot put with a throw of 11.31 meters, showcasing his strength in the field events. He finished 10th overall in the decathlon with a total of 4,765 points. Teammates Logan Easley and Reilly Williams also delivered solid all-around performances, finishing 7th and 9th respectively with 5,137 and 4,793 points, rounding out a strong showing by Central Washington in the top 10.
 
UP NEXT
Your Wildcats head to McMinnville, Oregon to compete in the Linfield Open on Saturday, May 3rd. This will be a final tune up before heading to GNAC Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 9th and Saturday, May 10th at Civic Stadium in Bellingham, Wash.
