RESULTS
QUOTING HEAD COACH JONATHAN HILL
"We're pleased with how we ended the season, and in some cases, careers today."
"Johan did such a great job running to sixth in the NCAA and garnering his fifth career All-American award. He and Coach Layten have worked so hard and set up a really strong plan leading to today. He ran to win, and we were all really hoping for a title for this man. He got a little tripped up and that hurt his momentum. In fields like this, that's all it takes. It was a great race and sixth in this field and the season he's had is just incredible. He's an instant legend here and a huge part of our success this weekend."
"Our women's team finished a program best 7th in the NCAA with Emy and E'Lexis scoring 20 and 11 points respectively."
"Lauryn is top 10 in the NCAA as a sophomore and is now a two-time NCAA All-American. She had a great series and is ready to vault really high. I/We couldn't get our pole series figured out and missed out at 4.07. She's such a great competitor and she had such a great year, it's ok to be disappointed when we know what she's capable of and also be happy we achieved what we did."
"E'Lexis is another legend competing in her final NCAA Outdoor Championships. It's incredible what she's accomplished, capping it off with 100, 200, and 4x100 NCAA Finalist. Her weekend included an 11.10 & 11.25 100m dash, and 23.20 & 23.27 200m dash; some of the best times NCAA D2 has ever seen. E'Lexis has worked hard at her race plan and is executing better and better. It was amazing watching her put things together here and now. She leaves this weekend with two more First Team All American awards, a new GNAC record and three new School Records. Simply amazing watching her compete this weekend and the grit she exhibited."
"Emy competed like a warrior. Obviously winning two national titles is extraordinary but the story behind the win is the special part for me. Emy is just starting to realize she can win these meets. She's realizing she can be pretty good at this. It's ok to fail, but it's not ok to give up. She fought through a third attempt, 1.73 bar then rocked a 1.76 first attempt. It was her meet after that. Then, after leading through five rounds, was passed by 1cm. Surrounded by her teammates, Emy launched a lifetime best of 13.33 to win the meet. It was an incredible moment of resilience, character, toughness, everything we hope our kids will be when their moment comes. Emy is a once in a lifetime talent, teammate, and person. We're both locked in on our process and know how much more there is to work on…meanwhile she just won her third NCAA Title. Just incredible her potential in everything she does."
