ELLENSBURG, Wash.- The Central Washington University track & field team enjoyed a successful home opening weekend of the outdoor season, posting several top marks across multiple events.

ABOUT THE MEET
Ellie DeGroot captured the women's heptathlon title with a winning total of 4,569 points, while
Josh Boast secured first place in the men's decathlon with 6,208 points, completing a strong showing in the multi-event competitions.
On the track,
Trevion Walker won the men's 400 meters in 50.23, while
Donna Marie Harris captured the women's 400 in 57.05.
Max Hutton took first in the men's 800 with a time of 1:55.66, and
Dawn Hulstedt claimed the women's 800 title in 2:19.41 before adding another victory in the 1500 meters (4:46.28).
In the men's distance races,
Ares Van Straaten was a double winner, taking the 1500 meters in 4:04.02 and the 3000-meter steeplechase in 9:42.50.
Luke Hurd won the men's 10,000 meters in 32:28.81, while
Hannah Pidduck claimed the women's 10,000 meters in 39:28.75.
Wes Kriete led the men's throws, winning the discus (48.13m / 157'10.75"), hammer throw (49.20m / 161'5.50"), and shot put (15.87m / 52'0.75"). On the women's side,
Maliyah Gordon matched the multi-event success with victories in the discus (40.28m / 132'1.75"), hammer throw (42.95m / 140'11.00"), and shot put (13.01m / 42'8.25").
Additional field event winners included
Bailey Board in the javelin (40.72m / 133'7.00") and
Cariann Bryant in the pole vault (3.25m / 10'8.00"). In the jumps,
Matthew Bender captured the men's triple jump (13.56m / 44'6.00"), while
Tehya Moore won the women's triple jump (11.58m / 37'11.75").

The 'Cats will travel to Eugene, Oregon to compete in the Oregon Preview, hosted by the University of Oregon, from Friday, March 20 through Saturday, March 21. The meet will be held at Hayward Field.
