AZUSA, Calif. – The Central Washington University Track & Field team turned in an impressive weekend at the Bryan Clay Invitational, posting several top 10 finishes against elite national competition and highlighting the meet with a record-breaking performance from
Elise Hopper.

RESULTS
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elise Hopper led the way for the Wildcats with a sensational weekend on the track. The senior broke the GNAC record in the women's 400 meters, finishing second overall with a time of 53.04. Hopper also added another top five finish in the women's 200 meters, placing fifth in 23.53.
The Central Washington women's 4x100 relay squad posted a strong performance with a fourth-place finish in 45.83, while the women's 4x400 relay team followed with a fifth place showing in 3:42.69.
Josh Boast delivered two top six performances for the men, placing fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 14.19m (46' 6¾") and sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.64.
Matthew Bender added a seventh-place finish in the triple jump at 13.83m (45' 4½"), while Calvon Baker cleared 1.98m (6'6") to finish eighth in the high jump.
On the distance side,
Payton Conover posted a strong run in the women's 10,000 meters, finishing seventh in 36:15.04.
In the throws,
Kamila Salanoa placed eighth in the women's shot put with a mark of 12.87m (42' 2¾"), while
Wes Kriete took eighth in the men's shot put with a toss of 15.58m (51' 1½").
Ellie DeGroot rounded out the Wildcats' top 10 finishes on the track, placing ninth in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.98.
Maliyah Gordon also earned a ninth-place finish in the women's shot put with a mark of 13.35m (43' 9¾").
