Magruder, Nielsen and Ntekpere Secure Victories as Wildcats Shine at Spokane Invitational

SPOKANE, Wash.- The Central Washington University track & field team kicked off the indoor season at the Spokane Invitational today, with three Wildcats earning a win along with many marks that rank amongst the best in the nation.

ABOUT THE MEET
  • Colton Magruder secured the victory in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.77 seconds after qualifying in the preliminary round with a time of 6.85 seconds.
  • Ashlyn Nielsen won the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.37 seconds. Nielsen also finished third in the 60-meter dash, setting a new PR of 7.56 seconds.
  • Emy Ntekpere earned the victory in the women's triple jump with 12.23 meters. Ntekpere also finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.92 seconds, securing a new PR.
  • Cal'von Baker finished fourth in the men's high jump with a distance of 1.95 meters and placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 13.98 meters, setting a new PR.
  • Maliyah Gordon placed second in the women's weight throw with a distance of 17.15 meters, securing a new personal best. She also placed fifth in shot put with a distance of 13.02 meters, another personal best.
  • Ellie DeGroot placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.80 seconds, securing a new PR.
  • Meggie Kilcup placed fifth in the 600 meters with a time of 1:38.70.
  • David Brown placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.03, a new personal record. Ian Calhoon followed as he finished fourth with a time of 8.28 seconds, a personal record. Josh Boast followed with a fifth-place finish with a time of 8.31 seconds, a personal record. Drew Klein placed sixth, clocking in at 8.31 seconds.
  • CWU placed fifth in the women's 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:00.42 with Samantha Delay, Meggie Kilcup, Elise Hopper and Layla Fields working together to secure the result.
 
UP NEXT
The Wildcats travel to Seattle to compete in the UW Preview on Friday, January 16 through Saturday, January 17 at Dempsey Indoor Center.
