Hall of Fame
The last Central team to qualify for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) World Series, the Wildcats ended the season winning six of eight playoff games. Though the Wildcats finished with a record of 29 wins and 22 losses, they played what was considered the toughest schedule in school history including 19 games against National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1 teams consisting of Washington State, the University of Washington. University of Portland, University of Utah, Eastern Washington University. and Gonzaga. During the season, the Wildcats also split tour games against eventual NA1A national champion Lewis-Clark State. Among the players on the team were three NAIA All-Americans: pitcher Charlie Hatem, and CWU Athletic Hall of Fame members outfielder Joe Dawson and shortstop Marc Greeley.
