Hall of Fame
Coleman, a 1981 graduate of CWU, was the Wildcats' head coach from 1990 to 1995. A three-time district or conference coach of the year during his five-year tenure, he won ninety-two games before becoming ill with pneumonia, eventually passing away late in the 1994-95 season at the age of 38. A protege of, and assistant to, fellow Athletic Hall of Fame member Dean Nicholson, Coleman was also a standout coach at both Onalaska and Juanita high schools, where he won a combined 158 games and lost only 48. He led the Onalaska boys' team to a 28-Q record and the 1983 state Class B high school championship. In 2007, Coleman was inducted into the Washington State Coaches Hall of Fame. His son, GE, has also served as the associate head coach for the Wildcats men's basketball team.
