Dawson set the CWU home run record with 16 in 1988 to help lead the Wildcats to their last College World Series appearance, and was an honorable mention All-American. His 16 home runs were nearly twice as many as the second-best mark in school history at that time. Dawson also scored 47 runs (2nd best mark in school history), had 56 hits (6th), and held the school-records of 117 total bases and 52 RBI during his senior season. At the time of induction he ranked second all-time in games played (141), second in at bats (431), second in runs (95), second in hits (137), fourth in doubles (26), first in homers (21), second in total bases (234), second in RBI (110), second in walks (74), first in sacrifice flies (9) and sixth in slugging (.543).
