Sawyer was the first player in Central intercollegiate women's soccer. program history to be inducted into the CWU Athletic Hall of Fame. She was named a second-team National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All American 'in 1997.That year, she was also selected as the top-rated defender and, the No.3 player overall in the Pacific Northwest Region, and was named the, Wildcats' Most Valuable Player, At the time of her induction, she was still considered the "best defender in school history." In 1997, Sawyer keyed a Central defense that allowed just 17 opponent goals in 19 games. During her four seasons with the Wildcats (1995-1998), Sawyer appeared in 71 matches and scored 23 points on eight goals and seven assists, including five goals and three assists her junior season.
