CWU Athletic Hall of Fame coach Dean Nicholson called Wallace “a super player at both ends of the court.” Wallace played for Nicholson and the Wildcats during the 1968 and 1969 seasons. He averaged 12.5 points, leading the Wildcats in scoring average as a senior, and grabbed 255 rebounds during his career. In 1969, he was named to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American second team when he led the Wildcats to a 24-9 record and a third place finish at the NAIA national tournament. The Seattle SuperSonics selected Wallace in the eighth round of the 1969 National Basketball Association draft. Wallace was also a 1962 first team all-state player at Richland High School and was inducted into its Hall of Fame. T-Bird, as he was known, was selected as the Outstanding Player at the 1965 Washington Athletic Association of Community Colleges men’s basketball tournament, as he helped lead Columbia Basin College to the championship. An avid tennis player, Wallace was also ranked by the United States Tennis Association.
