Potucek, who was initially recruited as a baseball player, walked on to the foot-ball team after a broken wrist derailed his baseball season. Potucek would go on to re-write the CWU history books in numerous offensive categories, including career totals in all-purpose yards (4948), punt returns (67), and receptions per game (8.5). The 2005 graduate of CWU also ranks second all-time in pass receptions (283), and punt return yards (719). As a freshman in 2001, Potucek earned second-team All-GNAC honors, and by his sophomore season, he had earned his first All-America award, tallying 86 receptions, 1,265 yards, and 11 touchdowns. After a redshirt year in 2003 due to injury, Potucek bounced back and earned first-team All-GNAC honors as a wide out and punt returner. He concluded his long list of accolades in 2005 with his second All-America honor. Potucek was also named the GNAC Offensive Player of the Year while earning first-team All-Northwest Region from D2 Football.com and Daktronics. Potucek also found success in the classroom as he was named to the AII-Academic team three separate times while majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
