Raab became the first golfer in school history to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. A four-year letterman for the Wildcats, he was Central's first National -'Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) AII-American golfer. He set season- and career-scoring records in 1987, placing fifteenth at the NAIA' national tournament, while leading CWU to eleventh place overall which was the best finish in school history. Raab also recorded three of the five best single-season stroke averages in Central history. As a high school player, he sank the first hole-in-one in state championship history at the 1979 Washington Junior Golf Association tournament in' Spokane. By the time of his induction, Raab had also established himself as an outstanding high school girls' basketball coach, leading teams from both Zillah High School and East Valley (Yakima) High School to multiple state tournament appearances.
