Klett, a double graduate from Central in 1952 and 1954, was a pioneer in women’s interscholastic athletics prior to Title IX. She volunteered her time to instruct women’s physical education classes and assisted with a limited intramural program in the mid-1950s, eventually becoming a paid physical education teacher. Klett then spent 32 years as a teacher and coach at Central Kitsap High School, retiring from her full-time position in 1998. She also served as a volleyball and basketball official for several years, and was one of the founders of the Olympic Peninsula Board of Officials.
