A native of Selah, Adkison played two seasons of baseball for the Wildcats. A third baseman, he batted .380 with four home runs and 20 runs batted in with 100 at-bats in his junior season. He followed with a senior campaign in which he batted .360 with team-leading totals of nine doubles, six home runs and 20 RBI. A two-time All-Evergreen Conference selection and a 1971 draft choice of the San Francisco Giants, Adkison had the third-highest career batting average (.370) in school history at the time of induction.
