Hippi compiled a 15-6 won-loss record in three seasons (1968-70) while leading the Wildcats to two National Association of intercollegiate Athletics World Series appearances (1968 and 1970). He allowed just 115 hits in 172 2/3 career innings Upon his individual induction into the CWU Athletic Hall of Fame, Hippi was still third on the school's all-time strikeouts list (224), first in strikeouts per nine innings pitched (11.67), 10th in career earned run average (3.18), and he had the second lowest hits allowed per nine innings pitched ratio in school history (5.99). In 1999 Hippi was also inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the 1968 Central baseball team and, in 2010, as a member of the 1970 Wildcat squad. Professionally/he pitched in the New York Yankees' organization from 1969-1972. Hippi went on to serve for 22 seasons as the pitching coach at Lower Columbia College in Longview. He was also the pitching coach for the Alaska Goldplanners when they won the National Baseball Congress national championship in 2002 and the Alaska Baseball League title in 2002 and 2003. In addition, Hippi served as the pitching coach for the Wenatchee AppleSox of the West Coast League.
