Hall of Fame
The 1987-88 women's basketball team became the first women's squad inducted into the CWU Athletic Hall of Fame. Led by co-Most Valuable Players Lanette Martin and Sonia Swan, the team won thirty-one games and lost only five during the season while taking the NAIA District 1 championship and representing the district at the National Association, of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national championship tournament. It became the first women's basketball team in Central history to win thirty games in a season, reaching the prestigious mark with a dramatic come-from-behind victory over arch rival Western Washington in the district championship game.
