The 1959 tennis team won the second of back-to-back NAIA District 1 titles. That group, coached by Dr. Everett Irish, was a perfect 12-0 in dual matches during the season and tied for third at the NAIA National Tournament. In Fact, the Wildcats won 52-straight individual matches (singles and doubles) en route to a 76-8 individual match record for the season. The Wildcats were led by Vern Ball, who went undefeated in conference play in back-to-back seasons, successfully defended his individual district title, and also teamed up with Harold Dobler for a second consecutive doubles crown.
