An internationally caliber swimmer, John won a maximum six individual NAIA national titles and swam on two national relay championships in the 1983 and 1984 national meets. Set four NAIA national records, was twice selected NAIA National Swimmer-of-the-Year and led CWU to its first national team swimming title in 1984.
